Risk Assessment

Danger can come in all shapes and sizes. Help your child learn to assess risk.

Narrative

Danger can come from chaos, harmful situations, or misuse of one’s surroundings.

Illustration discussions:

  • Why are the kids jumping ? How high can you jump ?

  • How many books do they have? Did anything break ? What might have broken?

  • Did anything spill from the vase? What would Mom be saying ?

Activities

  • Walk through an area and find situations that could be harmful.

  • Talk through what can be done to avoid the risks of danger.

  • For more in-depth thinkers, the risks do not always have to be physical.  These could be economic, emotional, medical or a host of other possibilities.

  • What are these and how can their impacts be lowered to achieve a great day and life. This may sound too deep for kids but the orientation to recognition and finding solutions can surely start early.
