Finding and Evaluating Options
Narrative
Many options always exist. You just need to find them, weigh them and select the best one. An adage may be “there are plenty of paths to climb a mountain”
Illustration discussions:
Where did Mom & Dad place Mr. & Mrs. Stick? Why there?
Is this their final choice for placement ? Might they go somewhere else ?
Can the kids reach Mr. & Mrs Stick? Are Mom & Dad pretty happy with this choice?
Activities
Find and talk about making a lunch. There are lots of ingredients available. All lead to lunch. Which is the best choice and why?
Find something to read. Books being the obvious choice but there may also be magazines, or short stories or even mail available. Which would you pick and why ?
Layout several clothes options for the day. Which would you pick and why?
Practicing the thinking will help clarify the decision criteria and which is weighted more than others. The options are in front of you. Be mindful every set of options should include: “status quo” or “do nothing” . This takes some of the pressure off seeking out every single (infinite!) option
